"Firstly, Jermaine did an exceptional job getting me photos in advance and taking care of all the logistics in a virtually dark warehouse after the storm. Knowing the issues with power and gasoline shortages, it was not my expectation that he would get the wine out. I am very grateful. It's always dismaying to lose customers but especially when you are never aware of what happened until the top line is less than expected. "I have been corresponding with David Ocran via email for some time (1-2 years). Never met him live.
 
I stopped by a few weeks back to pick up an order that I had been threatening to pick up for weeks (I kept getting delayed). I had a young child with me and the goal is to get in and out as fast as practical. Pick up and run, no browsing.
 
I walk over to the counter and a very professional gentleman asks he if can help.
 
I tell them I am here to pick an order. He says ‘the name”
 
I say Bob Creamer. He says “Old Westbury, NY?”
 
I was stunned. It turns out he had just reviewed the order, had it fresh in his mind and then warmly introduced himself. It was nice to put the name and face together.
 
David then asked if I wanted to try some Spanish wine, I had recently purchased some so I presume he knew I had an interest, he then steered me to some wine you were featuring, answered a Malbec question or two, and I wound up  purchasing an extra ½ dozen bottles as a result of his influence. Very good choices by the way.
 
Was the above a big deal? In many ways no. I am sure it happens everyday in your store. However, in some ways it was a big deal. In a world full of internet sales, daily wine videos, and emails touting 'no name wines that have high scores and will be sold out in hours if you don’t order today,' it is a big deal to visit a store and be supported by a professional and knowledgeable staff.
 
I couldn’t explain to my wife why I needed to buy another ½ dozen bottles. However, I was able to share my story about meeting David and confirm to her why I have been driving to Scarsdale from Long Island for the last 15+ years.
 
Please say hi to David and thank him for me for his email and in person help. I truly appreciate it."

“Jeff, I wanted to thank you for the great service I received from one of your Wine Consultants, John Dawson. I came to your store a few months ago and received some excellent recommendations from John. It just happened that he was in the store buying some wine for himself on his day off when I arrived. Even though he was not working he spent about 15 minutes giving me some help and pointed me to some wines I really enjoyed. I returned to your store today to repurchase some of the wines John had previously recommended, which I had finished, and to see if John could help me find some new wines. I did not realize John does not regularly work during the week, but once again he happened to be in the store and the person whom I asked if John was in told him. He came over, quickly understood the kind of wine I was looking for and gave me about 20 minutes of assistance, even though he was not ‘working’. Because of his assistance I purchased 3 cases of wine and will definitely come back when these are gone to buy some more. (I told John I will try to come when he is working the next time.) You have a nice store, great wine selection and very good prices. However it is the outstanding help I received from John that will keep me coming back again and again.” Carl 7/08
