Marco Caprai of Arnaldo-Caprai, Winery of the Year
Saturday, January 26th | In-store | 12-4pm
In the world of Italian wine, the winery Arnaldo-Caprai needs no introduction. These undisputed leaders of Montefalco wine are responsible for elevating the status of their region, and of Umbria in general.
The Sagrantino grape was unknown and near-extinct just decades ago. Arnaldo Caprai and his son, Marco, were determined to create wines that showcased the very best of Montefalco terroir, and sought to revive Sagrantino and allow it to thrive. Using environmentally conscious and sustainable farming and winemaking techniques, they were successful in both allowing the grape to flourish, and in creating highly sought-after award-winning wines. It is this dedication to every facet of winemaking that earned them the title of European Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine.
Arnaldo-Caprai has already produced wines of incredible beauty and nuance. The future looks very bright for this winery, and we are thrilled to have Marco Caprai himself on hand at Zachys pouring his wines. Take a drive and be sure to congratulate Marco on his accolades…and of course, try some of his wine while you’re at it!
