California Perfection - Chanin Raises the Bar…Again!
To say "on the rise" wouldn't do it justice. Chanin Wine Co. is officially at the top.
Gavin Chanin, former assistant winemaker at Au Bon Climat and Qupe, founded Chanin Wine Company in 2007. After several fantastic vintages and a Forbes Magazine "Top 30 under 30," Chanin's relentless pursuit of balance made his wines highly sought-after for their unbelievable nuance and elegance.
Reviewer Antonio Galloni has just released his report on California's Central Coast, reviewing hundreds of wines primarily from the 2011 vintage. Gavin Chanin has, unsurprisingly, stolen the show once again:
"Gavin Chanin made four of the best 2011s I tasted. The only problem is finding the wines, as production is Burgundian scale, which is to say anywhere from 2-8 barrels for each of these wines. Readers who can find a few bottles won't be disappointed, as the wines are truly magnificent. Chanin favors a pretty straightforward approach that starts in the vineyard and finishes with wines that see minimal handling in the cellar. Each year I have been deeply impressed, but the 2011s really do seem to take things to another level. Chanin's Chardonnays and Pinots are a pure joy to taste." Vinousmedia.com, 7/13
Chanin set the bar unbelievably high with his 2010 vintage. In the 2011 vintage, he raised it yet again. The wines are truly of phenomenal quality, overdelivering for the price and showcasing the absolute best that the Central Coast has to offer. Where he goes from here, we’re not sure. But the world is looking forward to finding out, and we’re all going to enjoy his wines while we wait!
