Ideal, exceptional, mesmerizing, hedonistic…regardless of your choice of adjective, there's a consensus on the 2010 vintage of Chateauneuf-du-Pape: legendary.
"This is a great vintage…some producers think 2010 eclipses 2007 because of the wines' vivid freshness and focus. Throughout the southern Rhône, the hallmarks of the vintage are very dense purple, sometimes even blue/black colors as well as higher acid levels that have not been seen since 2004 and 2001. In fact, 2010's paradox is that I can't remember a vintage so concentrated, powerful and rich that also has such zesty acidity." - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #197
Parker isn't the only fan of 2010. Wine Spectator ranks 2010 as a "98-point vintage." For comparison's sake, 2007 is considered the best in decades and is considered a "95-point vintage." Likewise Wine Enthusiast gives 98 points to 2010 and 96 points to 2007. But you can forget the numbers; the wines speak for themselves! Every single one represents an absolutely stunning level of quality for the price, and makes an excellent gift, pairing with full-flavored dishes, or cellar treasure.
The one downside to 2010? Small yields led to much lower than average production. We are lucky to have THIS many in stock! 2010 Chateauneuf du Papes will go down in history as some of the greatest wines of our time. Lock in now for your "legendary" bottles before they are gone for good.
