Critic Reviews

Vinous Media
96 Points
96 Points, Rebecca Gibb, Vinous: "The finely framed 2022 Vouvray Sec provides calm and tenderness as well as a fine powdery chalky texture on the finish. It exudes a sense of effortlessness. While it's light in body, it has plenty of substance. Wild fermented in old barrels, it has subtle fruit characters of nectarine, red apple and florals combine with an integrated nutty lees character on the long, balanced finish." 10/24
Decanter
96 Points
96 Points, Beverley Blanning, Decanter: "A bit of a heart-stopper, the latest Vouvray Sec release from Domaine Foreau has everything you could want: an intense, savoury, mineral nose and a softly honeyed, rounded palate. In the mouth the wine evolves, revealing its powerful, mineral depth and complexity. Deeply savoury on the finish, with light oak spice. This feels like an iron fist in a velvet glove, delivering delicious Chenin bitterness and a very long, juicy, lemon-mineral finish. Perfectly balanced, with 5g/L residual sugar. Unique and wonderful. Can be drunk now, but will easily last 20 years or more. Fermented and aged in old 300L barrels." 05/24
Wine Advocate
94 Points
94 Points, Yohan Castaing, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Foreau's 2022 Vouvray Sec is showing very well today, evoking aromas of Anjou pear, spices, spring flowers and white fruits mingled with delicate notes of confit citrus. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, it's layered and chiseled with some depth at the core enhanced by a delicate gastronomic bitterness and bright acids, perfectly balanced by five grams of residual sugar. From a solar, canicular vintage, it could age gracefully over the next 20 years and beyond." 10/25
